Your questions answered: Brush teeth BEFORE or AFTER breakfast?!
A while ago, we asked you which was better… brushing your teeth BEFORE or AFTER breaky?! ? Well… today we have an answer for you!
Now this is a tricky one! There’s reasons to support both arguments here but if you want a clear winner … it’s probably best to brush before breakfast.
Why??
Whilst you’re sleeping, bacteria in your mouth multiplies causing that gross morning breath (?) so brushing all of that bacteria right out will help decrease plaque and bacteria in your mouth as well as coating your enamel with a protective barrier against any acid in your food (i.e. your morning cup of OJ!). BUT… it must be noted, you should brush your teeth 30 mins before you eat in the morning so that everything does its job properly!
So summary… brushing before breakfast…
▪ gets rid of morning moss mouth
▪ decreases plaque production (which decreases likelihood of decay)
▪ coats your teeth with a protective barrier
AND
▪ kicks starts saliva production (a very good thing for a healthy mouth)
If you’re an after-breaky-teeth-brusher don’t fear! It is still worthwhile, just make sure you wait 30 mins after eating before brushing and PLEASE NOTE, you may miss out on some of the above wins from a pre-breakfast brush! ?
